The Duskbloods Network Test: What Players Learned
A factual recap of The Duskbloods Network Test: the server issue, the four-phase match structure, and the systems shown in the test build.
The short version
The Network Test was not a public demo. It was an in-development build used to test servers, multiplayer conditions, and balance before the 2026 release. The first session had server trouble, but the remaining sessions gave players and invited press a much clearer picture of what The Duskbloods actually plays like.
The result is important for this wiki: there is now far more to write about than trailers and broad promises. There is also a clear reason to label information carefully—test content and balance may change before release.
What the test build included
| Area | Network Test version |
|---|---|
| Match format | Four phases, beginning with eight players and ending with a three-player final phase. |
| Scoring | Virtue determined who advanced. |
| Characters | Six selectable Bloodsworn. |
| Map | One test field, the City of Roanlow. |
| Growth | Character and vassal experience, levels, and temporary Blood Powers. |
| Social play | Alliances, Blood Alliance mode, and Sigil-based objectives. |
The test was therefore much more than a simple arena fight. Players had to decide when to gain experience, pursue Virtue, fight a powerful enemy, form a temporary alliance, or enter the Ritual Ground once it opened.
What went wrong
The opening session experienced game-server trouble. FromSoftware acknowledged the problem, and the Network Test FAQ itself made clear that bugs and imperfect play were expected from an in-development version.
That context matters when reading performance reports. Connection, hit registration, frame rate, and balance feedback are valuable, but they are feedback on the Network Test build—not a final review of the release game.
What happens now
The official questionnaire remains the clearest feedback channel after the test. Miyazaki has said the team will take Network Test feedback seriously while continuing to work toward the retail version. The launch date is still only “2026.”
The most useful next pages are practical ones: match flow, Virtue, vassals, Sigils, alliances, the six test characters, and the difference between the Network Test and the announced retail plans.
